2026 Needs Data Guidance
ONAP is required to annually notify Indian tribes or their Tribally Designated Housing Entities (TDHEs) by June 1st of the data to be used for the IHBG formula. However, the required Census data needed for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 IHBG formula allocation was not available in time and this notification was delayed until August 1, 2024. Therefore, ONAP is extending the regulatory deadline for submitting documentation supporting Census challenges for the FY 2026 formula allocation from March 30, 2025, to May 29, 2025. This extension provides Indian tribes and TDHEs with a comparable amount of time as they had in prior fiscal years to review their Census data.
